I submitted student work and Turnitin gave it a fairly low similarity score, but 100% AI score. The student told me that he had Grammarly edit his work. Unfortunately, he composed his work on Grammarly (at least, that is what he says), so there isn't any original document that was corrected by Grammarly.

We have the same problems. Apparently, someone offers a turnitin originality check and the students pay and then are surprised that their work was submitted in Pakistan. I've posted this exact topic/complaint on so many Turnitin.com support pages. Turnitin.com has transitioned through at least three support forum versions ... this is the third iteration for me.
I then uploaded the edited files onto turnitin.com. As I thought, both of the edited files got 99% on the similarity score (they were essentially copies of the files that I had uploaded previously), but they both got 0% AI score on turnitin.com. The shorter file, of 625 words, had something around 35 suggestions, all of which I incorporated (OK ...
I had a student observer in my classroom last week who said that she has seen another teacher with Google Classroom where Turnitin was linked to Google Classroom. Her assumption was that when students turn in their work to Google Classroom, it runs through Turnitin and gives a similarity report.
This of course means Turnitin's business model will collapse (the risk of plagiarism essentially goes away with in person exams) so if they want to survive they need to act very quickly on this. In my institution (where I'm chair of exams) I expect us to move away from online exams and coursework within the next academic year, as the ...
I know that AI is a new frontier for turnitin and you are making changes on the fly, but any person who decided Jan 1 was a good time to make changes to an educational product, retroactively clawing back results already generated, needs to get more experience in education and schools.
