Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakeries was a brand of breads and assorted pastry products, frozen fish entrees, and prepared dinners formerly owned by General Baking. Established by one of the founders of both Los Angeles' iconic Tam O'Shanter Inn and the Lawry's restaurant chain and seasoned salt empire, it went bankrupt in 1990.

This family business was run out of a handsome Dutch Renaissance Revival factory in the heart of the LA “bread bowl” in Glassell Park. The Van de Kamp Bakery Building was built in 1930 in the Glassell Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. [1] It served as the headquarters of the chain of bakeries and coffee shops known for their distinctive windmill architecture.
Van de Kamp’s Holland Dutch Bakery, founded in 1915, was a Los Angeles institution for much of the twentieth century. Its trademark Dutch windmill appeared on its bakeries and coffee shops across the region, but today only one windmill survives intact, atop a coffee shop (now a Denny’s) in Arcadia.
13 Οκτ 2011 · The Dutch-themed blue bakeries with the windmills grew out of a partnership that began in downtown Los Angeles in 1915. Theodore Van de Kamp and his brother-in-law Lawrence Frank began selling potato chips, then known as Saratoga chips, in a tiny storefront at 236 1/2 Spring Street downtown.
