The Venus of Urbino (also known as Reclining Venus) [1] is an oil painting by Italian painter Titian, depicting a nude young woman, traditionally identified with the goddess Venus, reclining on a couch or bed in the sumptuous surroundings of a Renaissance palace.

27 Αυγ 2020 · In this essay, I will use the Venus of Urbino as a viewport into the world of women in Renaissance Italy. Rather than view this painting as an item to inform our artistic understanding, we will view this painting as the basis of research surrounding women and their role during the era.
