Veteran Population Projections 2020-2040. The Veteran Population Projection Model 2018 (VetPop2018) provides the latest oficial Veteran population projections from the Department of Veterans Afairs (VA). VetPop2018 contains projections for each fiscal year from 2018 to 2048.
Between FY2024 and FY2053, the share of Veterans who are Black, multiracial, or Hispanic are proje cted to increase from 12.9% to 16.1%, 5.5% to 8.7%, and 8.9% to 14.7%, respectively. Overall, 79.3% of Veterans living in FY 2024 served during wartime and 20.7% served during peacetime (1).
VetPop is a deterministic projection model developed by the VA's National Center for Veterans Analysis and Statistics to estimate and project the Veteran Population by key demographic characteristics such as age, gender, period of service, and race/ethnicity at various geographic levels for the next 30 years.
8 Νοε 2023 · As the number of veterans declines over the next 25 years, their demographics will shift, VA population models show. Women, Hispanic and Black adults, and adults under 50 will all make up larger shares of the total veteran population.
This table provides state-level estimates of the percentage of Veterans who were VA pension recipients at the end of the fiscal years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023. Percents are rounded to the nearest tenth.
