Visual ethnography is an approach to ethnography (the study of people and cultures) that uses visual methods such as photography, film and video. There are many methods available to conduct visual ethnography.

Visual ethnography, an approach that employs photography, video or hypermedia as research tools, is a relatively new method utilized in consumer settings (see Schwartz, 1989, for an early and thorough example of the use of visual ethnography).
