Walter Perry Johnson (November 6, 1887 – December 10, 1946), nicknamed "Barney" and "the Big Train", was an American professional baseball player and manager. He played his entire 21-year baseball career in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher for the Washington Senators from 1907 to 1927 .

A right-handed thrower with a sidearm delivery who batted right as well, Johnson pitched for the Washington Senators of the American League (AL) from 1907 through 1927.
Johnson blanked the Giants for four innings and earned the victory and Washington’s only World Series championship. Johnson finished his career with a record of 417-279 and a 2.17 ERA. His 3,509 strikeouts were the big league standard for more than 50 years. Johnson was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1936. He passed away on Dec. 10, 1946.
