Water-based adhesives are developed using a combination of water, polymers, and additives. They are ideal for porous or non-porous substrates. These adhesives may be formulated as solutions and are activated as the water evaporates or is absorbed by the substrate.
Water glue, also known as white glue or school glue, is a type of adhesive that works by creating a bond between two surfaces. The active ingredient in water glue is a polymer called polyvinyl acetate (PVA), which is dissolved in water to create a viscous, sticky liquid.
There are four main types of water-based adhesives: vegetable glues, animal/protein glues, resin cements, and latex cements. Each of these different adhesives is uniquely formulated to serve their own specific purposes.
10.2.2 Water-based adhesive. The water-based adhesive system uses water as the liquid portion. For laminate constructions, various polymer types including PVA, acrylic, polychloroprene and polyurethane polymers are used in this adhesive system.
25 Ιουλ 2023 · 1. Water-Based Adhesives. Developed using a mixture of polymers, water and additives, water-based adhesives are a popular choice for sustainable bonding applications. Since water is the primary ingredient used to create the bond, they release fewer harmful VOCs into the atmosphere.
Screws and nails are methods of the past, and water-based adhesives can help produce lighter products, structures, and even improve quality, efficiency and sustainability for your furniture and building components. BC Adhesives supports a variety of wooden parts in many applications in the furniture industry.
