- Getting Your Marriage License
To obtain a marriage license, you and your future spouse must appear together in-person at one of our office locations. You will need to complete the application form and present valid identification. Acceptable forms of I.D. must provide photo and age verification. These include: Driver's license; Passport; Military I.D.

Our office conducts civil marriage ceremonies for a fee of $49. Ceremonies are conducted weekdays at all of our office locations by a Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages on staff. You must obtain a marriage license before the ceremony can be performed.
Inmate Marriage Appointments There are specific procedures for inmate marriages. If you are scheduling an appointment for a Represa or county jail marriage license, you must call the Marriage Unit at (916) 874-6131 for additional information.
You can apply for a marriage license online before visiting the Sacramento County Clerk’s office. Before a marriage license can be issued, First Person and Second Person must bring in a valid photo I.D. (e.g., drivers license, military I.D., passport, or green card, etc.)
