9 Οκτ 2021 · An arachnoid cyst is a noncancerous fluid-filled sac that grows on the brain or spinal cord. Symptoms include headaches and seizures, but many arachnoid cysts don’t cause symptoms. Treatment isn’t always necessary. Providers drain or remove cysts that cause symptoms. Untreated, arachnoid cysts can cause brain damage and movement problems.
2 Φεβ 2024 · Most arachnoid cysts occur in the anterior or middle cranial fossa or a retrocerebellar location. The etiology of most arachnoid cysts is unclear, but they are likely formed due to abnormal splitting during the embryogenesis of the arachnoid.
4 Δεκ 2018 · Arachnoid cysts involving the posterior fossa are less common and exert local mass effect resulting in the symptoms and signs of cerebellar and brainstem dysfunction. Here, we present a case of a 14-year-old female with a retrocerebellar arachnoid cyst.
A rather defined retro-cerebellar CSF intensity cyst is noted, with thin few anterior septae seen. It follows CSF signal in all pulse sequences. No restriction on DWI/ADC. This is associated with mild mass effect manifested as indentation of the posterior aspects of both cerebellar hemispheres.
11 Ιουν 2024 · Arachnoid cysts are relatively common benign and asymptomatic lesions occurring in association with the central nervous system, both within the intracranial compartment (most common) as well as within the spinal canal. They are usually located within the subarachnoid space and contain CSF.
21 Αυγ 2024 · Typically seen as prominent retrocerebellar cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) appearing space with a normal vermis, normal 4 th ventricle, and normal cerebellar hemispheres. An enlarged cisterna magna usually measures >10 mm on midsagittal images.
19 Ιουλ 2024 · Arachnoid cysts are sacs filled with spinal fluid that are located between the brain or spinal cord and the arachnoid membrane, one of the three membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.
