21 Αυγ 2024 · How to Grow Resurrection Lilies. Resurrection lilies prefer full sun but will grow in partial shade as long as they receive afternoon sun. They need well-drained soil so that their bulbs do not rot. The bulbs should be planted when they are dormant, either in the summer or the fall.
This pink, trumpet-shaped bloom makes a real show when it magically appears in late summer. Its many nicknames—Magic Lily, Naked Lady, Surprise Lily, Resurrection Lily—are inspired by the fact that the flowers appear atop sturdy, leafless stems, long after the leaves have withered and disappeared.
You’ll find lycoris bulbs for sale in fall, and this is the best time to plant them. Plan to plant them as soon as possible after purchase. Prepare the planting bed by loosening the soil to a depth of at least 10” and adding compost and/or slow-release fertilizer. Dig a hole about 8” deep.
