You can still try to manipulate the SD reader by trying to place the write protection slider in the middle instead of top or bottom, and keep trying different positions until it works. It's going to be a nuisance though, so if you can, get the 3DS repaired.

I plugged it into my PC to format it and it says the card is write protected, even after confirming the switch was up, used diskpart to clear readonly attributes, and the registry trick. Any suggestions to get this card working with my 3DS?
If the lock slide doesn’t work, try putting a piece of tape over the lock switch, this levels out the little plastic piece in the 2DS that detects if it’s lock protected or not. If that doesn’t work try cleaning the contacts. But if that doesn’t work, sadly either your SD card or SD Card slot is busted. Hopefully I helped!
