Herot is the realm of the Shieldlands, formerly ruled by the Thane Hrothgar who also served as Jarl of the Shieldlands. He named his wife, Rheda, as his successor over his son, Slean. Following Hrothgar's death, Rheda is elected Jarl of the Shieldlands, with Beowulf as her Reeve.
